The Minnesota Vikings are an American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) 60 years ago as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the National Football Conference (NFC) North division; before that, the Vikings were in the NFC Central, and before that they were in the NFL’s Western Conference Central Division. The team has played in four Super Bowl games, but lost each one. The Vikings only won the NFL Championship once in 1969 and that was before the 1970 AFL–NFL merger. They have also won a total of 4 Conference championships between 1969 and 1976 but their major success has come at the division level, with a total of 20 Division championships with NFL Central, NFC Central and NFC North. The team’s colours are purple, gold and white.

The stadium which was opened on 18 September 2016 was built at a cost of a staggering $1.10 Billion. The US Bank Stadium has carrying capacity of 66,860 which is expandable to 73,000.
