Brief History of the Team
The New York Jets are a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team was established 61 years ago on 14 August 1959 and their first season was in 1960. When the club was formed, it was called New York Titans but they were later renamed New York Jets two years later in 1962. The team is one of the least succesful teams in the NFL in terms of the number of titles won because they only have 1 Super Bowl championships won in 1968 (III) and 4 division championships (2 with AFL East and two with AFC East). The stadium was opened in 2010 and its naming rights were acquired by insurance company MetLife. The stadium was built at an approximate cost of $1.6 billion and it has a 82,500 capacity.
Who is the coach?
Adam Joseph Gase the head coach of NFL side New York Jets after his appointment in 2019. Gase defining moment was when he was still with Denver Broncos from 2013-14 as the offensive coordinator where he helped set the NFL record for points scored in 2013 and helped the team reach Super Bowl XLVIII. The 42 year old’s coaching career started in 2000 but he only started assuming the head coach role in 2016 with Miami Dolphins.
